A small defender and sometime midfielder, Tony Begovich is possibly best remembered as the steak knives in the Scott Watters trade that netted Drew Banfield for the Eagles.

West Coast career[]

Begovich arrived at the club in 1989 when West Coast was allowed three additional selections at the end of the national draft. (Another of the picks was used on a Subiaco kid named Dean Kemp).

Begovich, made his debut in 1990 and played 9 games for the season, including the semi-final win over Melbourne and subsequent loss to Essendon in the prelim.

The combined effect of injuries and a pretty solid defensive unit that included McKenna, Worsfold, Hart and Waterman kept him from adding to his games tally in 1991 and 1992. At the end of the 1992 season, when Watters sought a move to Sydney, Begovich was thrown into the deal to convince the Swans to part with the first pick in the draft.

Sydney career[]

Begovich played five games for Sydney in the 1993 season.
