Tall Victorian utility Tom Lamb was West Coast's second-round pick in the 2014 national draft. After debuting in round 1 of his rookie season, he did not make another appearance for the club.

West Coast career[]

The son of former Melbourne and Fitzroy player Wayne Lamb and the grandson of St Kilda premiership player Ian Cooper,[1] Tom was a dreadlocked, blonde utility with elite endurance and goal sense. Projected as a late first-rounder, he slipped into the early 30s where West Coast snapped him up.

After a strong pre-season showing, Lamb made his debut in the season-opener against the Bulldogs. Used as the sub, he was quickly into the action when Mitch Brown suffered a season-ending knee injury. Despite a solid debut he was sent back to East Perth after that solitary appearance and then sent in for knee surgery of his own, with a pre-existing condition worsening. Following a lengthy layoff he returned late in the year and showed some promise with the Royals as a leading target, although he was unable to break back into the AFL side.

Lamb struggled for form throughout 2016, playing out the season at East Perth without pressing too hard for senior selection. Despite speculation that he would seek a return to Victoria at the end of the year, he signed a one-year deal to remain at West Coast for 2017.

Fast becoming the forgotten man of the Eagles' playing squad, Lamb was used in a number of roles at East Perth with varying success but was rarely in the mix for senior selection in 2017 apart from one late-season trip to Sydney as a traveling emergency. After again failing to garner any interest during the trade period, he was delisted at the end of the season.

Post-AFL career[]

Despite being invited to train with St Kilda, Lamb was overlooked in the draft. He subsequently signed with VFL side Sandringham for 2018.[2]
