West Coast career[]
A tall utility, Nener captained Queensland at under-18 level before crossing to WA to play for East Perth. He was picked up by West Coast with their final pick in the first rookie draft.
After retaining his place on the rookie list in 1998, he switched WAFL clubs from the Royals to Swan Districts early in the season. He was unable to get a senior call-up and was delisted at the end of the year.
