An exceptionally quick outside midfielder, Tim Houlihan impressed in his handful of games but was unable to have a lasting impact, first demoted to the rookie list before being delisted.

West Coast career[]

The "Harrow Thunderbolt" was a champion distance runner as a junior, before being drafted by West Coast with a pick obtained in the Michael Gardiner trade.

He spent the 2007 season playing with East Fremantle, before a remarkable 36-possession, 2 goal game against Subiaco midway through 2008 led to a senior debut. Houlihan tallied 20 possessions on debut and played eight straight games, before finishing up the season back with the Sharks.

He had to wait until round 16 of the following season to get another AFL game, but once he was back in the senior side he held his spot for the rest of the year, racking up half a dozen straight games of 20-plus possessions and providing important run on a wing or flank.

Unfortunately he was unable to build on that strong form, due to a foot injury suffered at home during the off-season. Following a delayed start, pesky soft-tissue injuries affected his form at East Fremantle and he was unable to work his way into the senior side.

Surprisingly delisted at the end of the season, he was redrafted back onto the rookie list for 2011 but his run of injuries continued and he failed to add to his senior tally, getting delisted for good at the end of the year.

Post-AFL career[]

Houlihan shifted to South Australia for 2012, lining up for South Adelaide in the SANFL. Sadly he was forced into retirement at the age of just 24 due to concussion symptoms.[1]
