Founded in 1932, Swan Districts joined the West Australian Football League in 1934 and has since won eight premierships, with its most recent flag coming in 2010. Known as the Swans (and unofficially as the Black Ducks) and wearing black and white, the club plays its home games at Bassendean Oval.

The club's city "zone" includes the eastern and north-eastern suburbs of Perth such as Bassendean, Midland and Gosnells up into the Swan Valley, and the hills region including Mundaring, Kalamunda and Lesmurdie. Its country zone includes Tom Price, Newman, Karratha and Port Hedland, as well as Bunbury.

Eagles players to have been recruited from Swan Districts include premiership players Andrew Embley, Adam Hunter and Jason Ball.
