Midfielder Stephen Schwerdt remained in South Australia after being drafted by West Coast, eventually becoming an inaugural member of Adelaide's playing list.

West Coast career[]

Schwerdt did not come to Perth, remaining at Central District for the 1990 season. When the Adelaide Crows were formed, Schwerdt was one of 10 previously-drafted SA players signed by the new club.[1]

Adelaide career[]

Schwerdt did not make his Crows debut until early in 1992. He played 25 games between 1992 and 1994.

Post-AFL career[]

Schwerdt played on with Central District until 1999, winning the club's best and fairest in 1998. After retiring he took on a role as a fitness coach with the Crows, remaining with the club until 2012 when he was poached by Gold Coast.[2] He quit the Suns and returned to South Australia midway through 2015, to take up a role with the State's cricket association.[3]
