(204th Eagles player)
Ryan Neates was a diminutive midfielder who spent three years on West Coast's senior list, but played only one game.
West Coast career[]
Standing just 169cm tall, Ryan Neates was picked up by West Coast in the 2005 pre-season draft.
A hard-working midfielder, Neates missed the first half of 2010 and basically all of 2011 through injury. He showed some good form with Claremont in the early part of 2012 and was called up for his debut against Essendon at the Docklands. Starting as the substitute, he came on after halftime when Matt Priddis was forced off with concussion but had little impact in the Eagles' loss. He was sent back to Claremont where he continued to show reasonable form until again getting injured. Unable to force his way back into the Tigers' seniors, he played in their 2012 reserves premiership. He was delisted at the end of 2012.
Post-AFL career[]
Neates continued on with Claremont, finishing second in the Tigers' best and fairest in 2014.
