An athletic key position player from Broome, Rowen Powell was the final player added to West Coast's 2014 playing list
West Coast career[]
Powell played in Claremont's colts premiership before being drafted with West Coast's second and final pick in the 2014 rookie draft. The Broome product played seven games as a key defender with the Royals reserves in 2014 but was beset by shoulder problems and was eventually sent for season-ending surgery in June.
Switching forward in 2015, Powell made his senior WAFL debut and split his time between the league and reserves. Despite showing reasonable development through the year, he was delisted at the end of the season.
Post-AFL career[]
Powell returned to Claremont for the 2016 season. After managing just two senior games due to a broken ankle, he switched to Subiaco for 2017, playing in the Lions' premiership sides in 2018 and 2019.
