West Coast squandered an opportunity to get on the board for 2025, finishing on the wrong side of a tight tussle with Richmond. In their only trip to the MCG for 2025, the Eagles started poorly but fought their way into the contest late in the first term, and the two struggling sides traded goals and the lead throughout the second and third terms. Richmond found themselves just ahead late in the match, with a desperate last forward foray by the Eagles snuffed out with a Tom Brown chase-down tackle on young Eagles sub Tom Gross, and the Tigers holding on in the final moments. Jack Graham had 20 touches and 13 tackles against his old side, and Jamie Cripps kicked three goals.

From the coach[]
From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"After a blistering second term, both teams tried to lock down more defensively and it seemingly suited the Eagles who upped the pressure.
Brown kicked the first goal of the second half to extend the Tigers’ lead but the Eagles managed to lock the ball inside their forward half for the majority of the third quarter.
For all their effort though they kicked only two goals with misses from Tim Kelly, Matt Flynn and Jake Waterman letting the Tigers off the hook.
And this hurt them when Rhyan Mansell kicked his second excellent goal from on the run before skipper Toby Nankervis restored their lead on the verge of three-quarter time."[1]
Reserves[]
Round 6 (10 May)
West Coast's reserves fell back to earth after their upset win the previous week, comfortably beaten at home by the Royals. The Eagles started well and led at the first break but five unanswered East Perth goals in the second quarter saw them go into half-time with a handy lead, before running away with the match in the second half. Tyrell Dewar played well off half-back with 25 possessions and seven marks while the omitted Jack Williams was the side's only multiple goalscorer.
