West Coast broke a near-record losing streak in emphatic fashion, holding the in-form Crows to just five goals en route to a 50 point win. One of those goals should not have been awarded, with youngster Ryan Davis becoming the first player to give away a free kick under the new interchange infringement rules but later exonerated by video evidence. Andrew Embley had 29 touches and 2 goals and David Wirrpanda also kicked 2 goals in his 200th game.

From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"The Crows came to town with two of their match-winners - Andrew McLeod and Brett Burton - in outstanding form and the toughest assignments were handed to Selwood (on McLeod) and Brett Jones.
By game's end, McLeod had only eight possessions while the Bird Man couldn't get off the ground, picking up a paltry five touches on Jones, whose career has blossomed.
Andrew Embley was squeezed from the leadership group early this year, but in recent weeks his gut-busting running from defence has inspired his teammates.
He was best afield and had help from any number of quarters, especially through the midfield where Chad Fletcher and Michael Braun fired."[1]
