From the papers[]

The Sunday Age[]

"West Coast muffed its chances in the first half, and surprisingly played better under adversity when undermanned in the second half.

Shortly after Peter Matera limped from the field early in the third quarter with a recurring calf problem, the Eagles trailed by 43 points. The margin had blown out after an undisciplined act from Chad Rintoul, who was reported for allegedly striking Matthew Rogers. The resulting 50-metre penalty provided Rogers with the easiest of his three goals for the night. It was Richmond's last goal.

The Eagles booted the last five goals of the game to get within 10 points of Richmond with about four minutes to play. It was, however, only in the final minutes that the Eagles threatened to tear the contest from the Tigers' grasp."[1]
