From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Nat Fyfe had dominated the first term, collecting 13 disposals, but Eagles tagger Scott Selwood was sent to him in the second, denying him another touch before half-time.

With Fyfe out of the picture the Eagles began to take the game by the scruff of the neck, but the inaccuracy of the last quarter against Carlton last week raised its head again.

Mark Hutchings was the worst offender with two behinds from easy opportunities in the first two minutes, but he had plenty of mates as the Eagles recorded 1.8 for the term."

The Age[]

"Injuries early to Fremantle key defenders Luke McPhalin and Zac Dawson could have helped keep the Eagles in the game. The Eagles tall forwards will stretch any defence at the best of times.

McPharlin continued despite a hip injury, but Dawson's ankle forced him to the sub's bench at half-time.

For the second consecutive week the Eagles were unable to make the most of their attacking opportunities. After kicking 1.8 in the final term to lose to Carlton by three points, the Eagles produced the same tally in the second term against the Dockers.

Goalkicking is now a problem for West Coast."

Herald-Sun[]

"Having been obliterated statistically in the first quarter, the Eagles led when youngster Simon Tunbridge snapped a goal seven minutes into the third term to make amends for his simple dropped mark.

But four unanswered goals to the Dockers before three-quarter time were telling and there was no way back for West Coast when Clarke kicked his third goal early in the final term."

East Perth report[]

Appearing for East Perth: Brennan, Carter, Colledge, Hill, Maginness, McGinnity, McGovern, McInnes, Sheed, Sinclair, Smith, Wellingham, Wilson. Reserves: Barrass, Karpany, Main, Powell
