"We played with pretty good intensity throughout the whole game. It was a pretty full-on game. Neither side really got out to any good big breaks. Most goals were pretty hard fought. The conditions made it an in-tight game. We talked about the fact we have to play with intensity for the full 120 minutes because you don't know when the break will come.
"...Rosa was really good first-up. Dalziell went out of the side to play as the sub today after he'd been pretty good for a couple of weeks. He didn't drop his chin and was prepared to come on and play a really key role for us."[1]

"Brisbane had to win the ball at ground level because key Eagles defender Eric Mackenzie was superb on Lions captain Jonathan Brown.
Mackenzie has grown in stature in the past few years after being handed the responsibility of playing on the opposition's premier tall forward.
He is now one of the club's most important players.
He gave Brown no space, spoilt him constantly and denied the Lions a target when thje pressure was on."[2]

"And yet they were still in the contest - level, in fact, at three-quarter time, after Matthew Leuenberger proved too agile for his prototype Dean Cox, giving him a nudge under the ball before dribbling it through for a goal.
Enter Black, who gleefully scooped up a low handball out of traffic from Redden to kick the Lions clear early in the last. He was at the bottom of every contest in the last quarter, and when Jonathan Brown had a rare victory against Eric Mackenzie late in the game, it looked as if Michael Voss' premiership teammates might lift the Lions to victory.
But this was to be no fairytale. Naitanui, who fought a great battle with Leuenberger all afternoon, flew high for his second goal. LeCras bobbed up for his third. Damningly, Daniel Merrett sealed his own side's fate when, after running the ball out of defence, his handball was intercepted by Josh Hill.
