In a matchup between two of the early strugglers in 2010, West Coast got out to a handy lead thanks to five first-half goals by Josh Kennedy and then held on as Jarryd Roughead led a final-term charge that ultimately fell short. Kennedy finished with six majors, aided by four to Mark LeCras, while Nic Naitanui and Dean Cox dominated the Hawks' ruckmen.

From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Hawthorn had their chances early after half-time to erode the 19-point margin, but looked unlikely to breach the margin until errors by Eagles Beau Waters and Will Schofield in defence gifted the visitors with consecutive goals.

Both teams had failed to win a final quarter this year and West Coast appeared willing to concede their buffer, allowing the visitors to close within seven points at the final change.

The rally came in the last term’s opening minutes, with three consecutive goals followed by a superb snap out of the ruck from Dean Cox guaranteeing the Hawks would slump to a sixth straight defeat despite three late majors from Roughead evening up the scores.

Naitanui appeared ever dangerous, finishing with 19 disposals and 23 hit-outs, while LeCras was at his opportunistic best with four goals."
