2 M.Dundas (FIT)
1 B.Stephens (FIT)
West Coast's first visit to Tasmania was not a happy one, with the side falling to the Lions by 20 points. The visitors managed just three goals in the first half, and while they improved in the second they were unable to bridge the gap. Troy Ugle kicked four goals and Glen Jakovich gathered 25 possessions.

From the papers[]
The Age[]
"From the moment Lion Darren Wheildon curled through his fourth goal late in the first quarter, the Eagles came no closer than the deficit with which they ended.
Chris Mainwaring finished in the back pocket and Michael Brennan in attack. John Worsfold had a spell in the centre in a bid to get things moving. Troy Ugle, who started on the bench, was the best forward with four goals - two in the last stanza.
By comparison, the Lions were variously magnificent, concentrated, persistent and good-old-fashioned, hard-working. Paul Roos was in Brownlow Medal form, just eclipsing Ross Lyon. Matthew Dundas and Jim Wynd were at the bottom of most packs or pushing forward. Wheildon's goals were glorious. At full-back, opponents came and went with remarkable frequency, but Peter Caven had the better of them all."[1]
