West Coast scored an upset win over the Power at Adelaide Oval, fighting back from a half-time deficit to take the lead in the third term and holding on as the home-town Power fought to take control of the game. Luke Shuey kicked two last-quarter goals on top of 23 possessions and six tackles, and Matt Priddis led all players with 31 touches.

From the coach[]
"It's the best win I've been a part of since I've been at the club.
We've probably been building to this for a few weeks. We really rated the Giants last week, we thought that was going to be a tough game and I thought we played a pretty good brand, so we were confident over here that we could put in a good show. But that second half, the way the players stood up and how we went about it, and then the last ten minutes when we were under siege I thought our backs really stood up as well.
We're really starting to see some development and excitement with our kids coming through. We've put a lot of faith in our coaches and recruiters, and we've given some opportunity to our kids through injury, let them develop and grow and continue to educate as much as we can.
At the same time, we've hopefully developed a bit more steely resolve about ourselves. I think a couple of times last year we probably let that slip."[2]
From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"West Coast wasted some chances in attack, but managed to find sufficient avenues to goal to shock the home team.
Luke Shuey was one of several midfielders willing to push forward and finished with two goals, including the sealer with just 11 seconds remaining in the game.
The Eagles experienced a minor injury scare when Josh Kennedy dislocated a finger during the second quarter.
Kennedy, already carrying a complex elbow injury, played out the match and proved a key figure in the win as the Eagles’ major marking target in attack."[3]
The Age[]
"When Josh Kennedy, with his left elbow heavily strapped, missed an easy shot from 25 metres after the three-quarter time siren, there was belief Port would make the Eagles pay dearly.
However, it was the Eagles who stood up better amidst incredible pressure, and given Port's standing in the competition and, at home, this was possibly their strongest sign yet the path coach Adam Simpson has taken on is a great one.
There was a lot to like about the manner in which, for most part, they played the game on their terms – slowing it down at the right time when Port desperately looked for their run, switching and attacking game, and West Coast finding answers from an array of players.
When Kane Mitchell applied a great tackle on Will Schofield 10 minutes into the last quarter to set up a goal for Chad Wingard, Port got within a goal and most thought the recovery was all but complete. No one should now doubt the Eagles are a worthy top-eight side, you've just got to admire their resilience. This was a quality that earned Port so much praise the past two years, but it has been sorely lacking in their second-half efforts this season as they remain out of the top-eight at 3-3."[4]
The Advertiser[]
"Power veteran Kane Cornes, playing his 298th match, was given the stopping duties on West Coast playmaker Andrew Gaff while Port coach Ken Hinkley employed small forward Angus Monfries in a defensive role on Eagles captain Shannon Hurn, whose booming right leg is one of his team’s major weapons.
West Coast dominated the opening midfield battles to have the first three scoring shots, including a superb goal from Yeo from the Eddie Betts Pocket.
It took Gray to spark the Power into action.
The Showdown 38 Medallist goaled with a brilliant snap and followed it two minutes later with a set shot bomb from 50m."[5]
