From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"West Coast came out and kicked five third-quarter goals to ice the match. There was no drop in intensity from the Swans, but no lift in skill level either and it killed them.

Once again the old wives' tale that wet weather brings a good team down to a mediocre team's level was exposed as a myth.

The greasy conditions and steady rain at Subiaco only exaggerated the gap in class between the sides.

Cousins produced another four quarters of even, hard-running football and capped his work with three goals."[1]
