From the papers[]

The Age[]

"A seven-goal first quarter stunned the Bulldogs and a six-goal final term left them on the canvas, bloodied and beaten 18.16 (124) to 7.10 (52).

The blood came from veteran tagger Tony Liberatore, left languishing by Ben Cousins in the first two quarters before copping an accidental blow from teammate Stephen Powell and leaving the field with blood pouring from his forehead.

Liberatore returned and had little influence while Cousins went from strength to strength and finished with 32 possessions in a best-afield performance.

The 20-year-old has wonderful poise and vision and was the man chiefly responsible for the first quarter burst that set the tone for the rest of the match."[1]
