From the papers[]

The Age[]

"The Kangaroos did not have a great deal of class up forward, other than the consummate skills of Phil Krakouer, but the side showed plenty of vigor.

West Coast's forward line, by contrast, was of an extremely high pedigree. Glendinning and Lewis played their roles of opportunists to perfection, each kicking five goals.

But the West Coast forwards suffered from a lack of opportunities, which was made evident by the disparity in the number of scoring shots. North's 13 point margin was made up entirely of points.

The Kangaroos first took the lead when Phil Krakouer goaled four minutes into the third term, and held it for most of the rest of the night."[1]
