From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Two incidents, one showing bone-jarring intensity, the other sublime skill, highlighted Richmond's 15-point win over West Coast on Friday night.

The physical was Scott Turner's demolition bump on Dean Kemp late in the third quarter, which resulted in Kemp being carried from the ground. West Coast had not goaled since the main break and wouldn't until well into the last quarter. The sublime skill was provided by Mark Merenda who, running with the flight of the ball, launched himself head-on onto the shoulders of Eagles defender Guy McKenna and pulled in a spectacular "grab". Merenda kicked his third and Richmond's 11th goal.

West Coast was never capable of winning after the first incident; Richmond was never going to lose after the second." [1]
