From the papers[]

Canberra Times[]

"The game was a tight checking affair from the start, though Glendinning and his counterpart Simon Beasley starred in the first half with four goals apiece. Beasley broke Kelvin Templeton's Footscray record of 494 when he kicked his first goal.

Geoff Miles started the game on the Bulldog's spearhead but was moved on to the Eagles half forward line in the second quarter after Beasley's initial success. Miles and Glendinning kicked two goals each to push the home side to a 21-point advantage at the last change.

The last 15 minutes were tense as the Footscray defence almost deprived the Eagles of four premiership points in front of a crowd of 16,000."[1]
