From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Cousins was best on ground and Wirrpunda, prowling across half-back, displayed that sixth, spatial sense that is the hallmark of Aboriginal footballers. Read managed the imposing feat of beating both Darren Bewick and Mark Mercuri.

But Jakovich and Matera, emerging from slumps, both played his best game for more than a season, and Kemp, who was under an injury cloud, had the luxury of sitting out much of the second half.

Scott Cummings, an ex-Bomber, kicked four goals without having to work especially hard for them. This is disturbing for rivals who will wake this morning to see West Coast again atop the AFL ladder."[1]
