From the papers[]

The Age[]

"After the Roos had looked well in the match as half-time loomed, the Eagle midfielders cut North to pieces in the second half.

Led by speedy wingman Peter Matera, who picked up 21 possessions, they continually flooded Sumich with opportunities and, where Brett Heady disappeared from the thick of play, Lewis made up for his absence.

For North, only ruckman Michael Gallagher and the ever-busy Spargo could hold their heads high, although Anthony Stevens tried hard in a tagging role.

Gallagher clearly had the better of both Dean Irving and David Hynes, but the North crumbers were largely blanketed."[1]
