On a hot Sunday afternoon, West Coast burst out of the blocks in the first term and held a three goal lead at halftime. After an extended break due to the heat, the Bulldogs mounted a comeback in the third but West Coast turned it on in the last to run out comfortable winners. Phil Matera kicked three in his 100th appearance and forward partner Troy Wilson scored four, while Glen Jakovich was his usual colossal self across half-back.
