From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Injuries aside, the Dockers again displayed their improving capacity to win the hard ball against a fired-up Eagles combination, but their goal-to-goal line again let them down. Peter Mann kicked an atrocious 1.5 until he scored his second goal from a set shot late in the game.

By half-time the Eagles were dominating play, starting in the centre where Jason Ball and Ryan Turnbull were helping big ilija Grgic over Jeff White and Daniel Bandy. Bandy, in fact, had trouble all day, over-running the ball, creating turnovers with bad handballs, and earning a post-match reprimand from Neesham.

Both sides were playing fast, attacking football, but the difference was in the strength and ferocity of West Coast's tackling."[1]
