From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Despite Knights' goal, the third quarter belonged to West Coast. Scores had been level at 43 points apiece at the half-time break, but the Eagles restored their efficient running game in a dramatic transformation.

Full-forward Peter Sumich capitalised on the strong efforts of Guy McKenna, running the ball off the half-back line, to kick four goals in 14 minutes to give the Eagles a 27-point lead.

Sumich finished with six goals, while at the other end, Jeff Hogg booted four for the Tigers.

The Eagles appeared vulnerable in the first half as the Richmond midfield brigade of Craig Lambert, Knights and Stuart Maxfield won possession of the ball across the centreline."[1]
