West Coast got their first win on the board for 1992 thanks mainly to a memorable performance by debutant Daniel Metropolis, who goaled with his first four kicks in senior footy and finished with 6 for the game. He was assisted by a number of more senior players, including Paul Peos who kicked four goals from 22 possessions.

From the papers[]

The Age[]

"While Peos was outstanding and Metropolis an opportunist from a fine midfield unit marshalled by Craig Turley, Dean Kemp and Chris Mainwaring, the Eagles' triumph was also a tribute to key defenders Andrew Lockyer and Glen Jakovich.

Chris Lewis, Eagles' player of the 1990 finals, also regained his flair and match-winning best with his finest performance in 18 months, according to Malthouse.

Lockyer took on and beat Saints' man mountain Tony Lockett while Jakovich held the dangerous Stewart Loewe quiet.

The Saints wasted far too many midfield developments and were constantly harassed into error as the West Coast rejuvenated the tackling, aggression and hunger for the contest that was missing from their game in Sydney."[1]
