From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Power looked anything but a final eight prospect early when players such as Matt Rosa and Shannon Hurn were allowed to run free through the midfield.

The first 15 minutes told a story and it wasn't attractive reading for Williams as Port nodded off when West Coast, against a strong easterly, took early control through Selwood, Rosa, Cox and the forward work of Mark LeCras and Ashley Hansen.

It took 15 minutes for Port to score and that was only a point. They lifted their work rate after a quarter-time spray from Williams but the game was just about beyond them at the big break.

Adam Hunter warmed to his work in attack where Quinten Lynch was menacing between admirably supporting Cox in the ruck."[1]

The Age[]

"Adam Selwood's first half was as good as any, with 20 possessions, six clearances, three inside 50s and a goal - all against Chad Cornes - driving his team's efforts, along with Dean Cox.

The Eagles' version of the rolling zone, which concentrates specifically on the midfield rather than stretching the length of the field, clogged up Port's movers and shakers.

And when Mark Le Cras was not dominating Jacob Surjan inside 50metres, Shannon Hurn and Quinten Lynch were storming the barricades from outside the arc.

Even the period of the first quarter in which Port dominated it also wasted, managing five straight points before registering a goal, prompting a Sunday afternoon spray from Williams."[2]
