West Coast started poorly but took a slight lead into halftime, then broke the game open in the third quarter before holding off a fast-finishing Adelaide to win by just 2 points. Dean Cox once again ruled the ruck contest to be best on ground and youngster Jaymie Graham kicked three goals in just his fourth game.

From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Time-on ticked over when Rowan Jones ran onto the Eagles' best foray forward for the term and nailed the snap.

It was Cox who won the clearance that gave him the opportunity and moments later Cox again set up a Staker goal.

But the Crows were not quite done with.

Nathan Bassett drifted forward to kick one across his body, leaving a couple of minutes of high intensity football to be played out.

This time Andrew Embley did the Leo Barry, marking a high bomb in the defensive goal square seconds before the siren."[1]

The Age[]

"Worsfold ensured the Crows' midfielders worked hard by rotating Chris Judd and Ben Cousins off the bench for most of the game. Their pace and brilliance were constant threats.

Adelaide again used Mark Ricciuto at full-forward against former teammate Tyson Stenglein, and the Adelaide captain kicked five goals.

It was another superb effort, but it was only when Craig used Rhett Biglands up forward during the last-quarter revival that the Crows stopped pinning most of their hopes on Ricciuto and looked positive going forward.

Apart from the scoreboard the game produced its contrasts, with both teams dropping simple marks, making foolish errors, falling over themselves, and then producing gems, including Hart's soaring mark over Judd and dart-like handball to Ricciuto."[2]
