From the papers[]

The Age[]

"The Eagles' leading goalkicker last season with 42, Gehrig finished with five goals to go with 12 marks and 20 possessions, while Notting was carried off on a stretcher late in the match with a leg injury.

The Lions had led by six points at the final change and the game developed into an arm wrestle for much of the last term.

After Gehrig goaled on the run from 55 metres to put the home side up by a point, the ball swung from end to end for 11 minutes without another goal being added.

It wasn't until after both teams had scored tit-for-tat goals that the clincher came - Gehrig's fifth goal at the 23-minute mark."[1]
