West Coast warmed up for the finals by demolishing a tired Crows outfit, holding Adelaide scoreless in the first quarter and to just seven goals for the match. Most Eagles players won their individual matchups, but Andrew Embley (33 touches and a goal), Luke Shuey (25 touches and two goals) and Scott Selwood (22 touches, eight tackles and three goals) were particularly outstanding.

From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"If the quarter-time lead was handy, the 54-point half-time buffer knocked the stuffing out of West Coast's jaded opponent.
Thompson was still in there swinging but there were fewer and fewer mates willing to go with him. Ben Rutten was battling manfully in dfence, meaning Kennedy was having little influence on the game, but the Eagles' goals mounted anyway.
Nicoski kicked truly twice, Naitanui once, Masten, Embley, Shuey, Lynch and Kennedy all added their own pinch of salt to Adelaide's half-time pain.
The game could have petered out in the second half and you felt that it might at times when the Crows were powerless to bridge the gap, but the Eagles had limited success in their efforts to extend it further."[2]
The Age[]
"To say Naitanui had a hand in the Eagles' first three goals would be misleading, as one of them - a Brad Ebert major - came after he let a relatively simple overhead mark slip through his fingers.
But there was no doubting who the star of the show was in the third quarter, as Naitanui deftly soccered a goal from 20 metres out.
The ball sailed through almost half-way up the posts and the crowd and commentators went bananas."[3]
Herald-Sun[]
"The Eagles had the match in the bag by the main break, leading a listless Crows outfit by nine goals after controlling the bulk of play.
The third term provided more highlights and underlined the party feel to the evening, with Naitanui's second goal coming from an instinctive soccer off the ground before a revitalised Chris Masten showed off his own trick.
Sitting under an awkward high ball as the umpire shouted it hadn't gone 15m, instead of gathering the ball Masten palmed it down volleyball-style to Luke Shuey who gleefully snapped his second goal.
It saw the margin breach ten goals for the second time as West Coast refused to take its foot of the accelerator."[4]
