West Coast turned in an appalling effort against an injury-ravaged Carlton in their final home game of 2024. Marking the retirement of Andrew Gaff, the Eagles went into the game in the unfamiliar position of being favourites and started strongly with the first two goals of the contest, but that was quickly swept aside as the visiting Blues hit the front on the quarter-time siren and then held the home side scoreless in the second term. The woeful Eagles looked all at sea, unable to win a contested possession or move the ball with any fluidity as Carlton cruised to a 65-point win. Elliot Yeo was one of few players who never stopped trying, finishing with 28 disposals and nine tackles.
