West Coast slumped to their biggest-ever Derby loss and a record fifth 100-point loss for the season, blown off the park by a Dockers side not far above them on the ladder. The Eagles started brightly, registering the first two goals of the game, but were then reduced to virtual onlookers as Fremantle ran rampant, pumping through the next 17 goals to heap more misery on the Eagles crowd, few of whom remained by the final siren. West Coast lost Tom Cole to an ankle injury and Oscar Allen to a shoulder, adding injury to insult.

Quarter by quarter[]

From the coach[]
From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"West Coast spent half-time demanding more of each other and had a good opening minute to start the second half. Then Fremantle produced a chain of running handballs, Amiss kicked another goal and the procession continued.
When Aish pushed forward and kicked a goal 19 minutes into the third quarter, the Dockers had 14 unanswered goals and led by 76 points.
The Eagles thought they’d broken the drought when Jamaine Jones kicked a goal moments later but the Eagles conceded a free kick on the preceding contest.
It was the first time since 2009 that the final derby of the season was being played with neither team in finals contention. That game was close. This one showed the enormous chasm that exists between the clubs."[1]
