West Coast's dismal season ended with barely a whimper at the hands of the ladder-leading Cats. A tired, undermanned and thoroughly underwhelming Eagles side was able to keep pace with Geelong for a little over a quarter before being blown away, with the Cats kicking six straight goals to end the first half and repeating that effort at the end of the fourth quarter to push the margin to within a sliver of triple figures and give the West Coast players plenty to chew over at their Mad Monday session. Quinten Lynch worked tirelessly for 21 possessions and 9 hitouts, as did Dean Cox who also had 21 touches.

From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"Geelong led by 42 points at half-time, on the back of six unanswered goals on their way to the main break, and had extended that to 61 with a quarter to play as Gary Ablett started to chime into a midfield dominance led by Joel Selwood, Jimmy Bartel and Cameron Ling, who was slowly starting to get the better of Matt Priddis.
Stenglein's effort against Chapman was possibly his best for the year, while Andrew Embley completed a consistent season in a new defensive role by taking the points over the usually prolific Joel Corey.
Captain Darren Glass competed with his usual uncompromising nature but the final quarter proved how steep the mountain will be for the former powerhouse to bounce back up the ladder."[1]
