2 C.Bradley (CAR)
1 S.Kernahan (CAR)
West Coast fell heavily to the Blues in a potential grand final preview, with the home side extending their lead at every break. To add insult to injury, Craig Turley was cited for striking Blues midfielder Greg Williams. Peter Matera led the Eagles with 23 disposals.

From the papers[]
The Age[]
"Parkin assigned Matthew Hogg to Dean Kemp, Craig Bradley to Peter Matera, Anthony Koutoufides to Chris Mainwaring and Williams, surprisingly, was manned up by Craig Turley. But it was evident early that the Blues had done their homework and were on top across the middle.
Williams and Turley clashed heatedly early, but ability won out and Turley was replaced by Don Pyke late in the first term. The Carlton dynamo ended the game opposed to an injured Kemp.
Parkin put the Bradley-Matera match-up down to his assistant Col Kinnear. It proved to be top input as Bradley used his speed and agility to go step for step with the West Coast roadrunner, particularly when the game was won in the first half.
As clever as Carlton's match-ups were on the wings, so were the placements of Andrew McKay and Tom Alvin as forwards. Normal defender McKay did a job on Guy McKenna in style, while Alvin, better known in his twilight years as a tagger, became an opportunist forward and contributed three goals."[1]
Canberra Times[]
"Champion Carlton centre-man Greg Williams was again the hero, collecting 17 kicks and 28 handballs in a best-afield performance.
Williams, Craig Bradley and Anthony Koutoufides provided plenty of drive from the midfield and plenty of scoring chances for full-forward Stephen Kcrnahan (six goals) and half-forward Tom Alvin (three goals).
At the other end of the field, full-back Stephen Silvagni led a defensive unit which simply refused to give up goals.
West Coast full-forward Peter Sumich bagged only one goal against Silvagni and spent time on the interchange bench in the third quarter because of his poor form."[2]
