From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Worsfold tried to draw some effort out of his insipid bunch in the second half by installing his famous one-on-one philosophy and though it worked to a point, it had little impact on the burgeoning Adelaide score.

Nic Naitanui's developing ruck work helped the Eagles win the clearances 37-31, but there were too many passengers around the high-leaping rookie.

The efforts of Tim Houlihan, Josh Kennedy, Adam Selwood, Quinten Lynch, Mark LeCras, Brad Ebert, Tim Houlihan (sic), Matt Rosa, Tom Swift, Sam Butler and captain Darren Glass were fair, while defender Matt Spangher deserved praise for his consistent desperation."[1]

The Sunday Age[]

"Above everything, Adelaide's work-rate was exceptional, and it was widespread, starting with the captain Simon Goodwin and Michael Doughty, who each gathered 37 disposals. The Crows had 10 players with 25 or more disposals, and the Eagles had two.

West Coast, however, battled gamely in the third quarter and certainly matched Adelaide with the contested possessions.

Adelaide was particularly impressive in defence, especially through Graham Johncock, and numerous players earned praise from their coach for the efficient way they delivered the ball inside 50.

Adam Selwood was among the Eagles' best, while Brad Ebert and Shannon Hurn battled tirelessly in trying circumstances. Overall, they didn't have enough teammates who were prepared to work as hard."[2]
