2 B.Sewell (HAW)
1 C.Brown (HAW)
The struggling Eagles were hopelessly outclassed by the finals-bound Hawthorn in a one-sided affair at Subiaco Oval. West Coast battled to keep the game close for the first half but a nine-goal third term by the Hawks ended any semblance of a contest. Andrew Embley had 31 possessions and a goal and Darren Glass battled hard to prevent Lance Franklin from reaching 100 goals for the season, as the Eagles farewelled the retiring Michael Braun.

From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"The last quarter would have been a whole lot prettier if they had just put Franklin in the goal square twice, let him kick the two goals he needed for the ton and then got on with the game. The Eagles decided that stopping him from getting it would be one achievement they could take out of the game and put every defender and his dog in front of him.
Forget Franklin being under threat from a rushing crowd after the milestone, he was under threat from a heavily flooded Eagles defence before it.
Faced with traffic ahead of them, Hawthorn's ball carriers got confused and their ball movement became slow and unsightly.
Some trademark Braun courage running with the flight of the ball into Cyril Rioli brought appreciative applause near the end."[1]
