West Coast thumped the struggling Demons to consolidate their place in the top eight. Melbourne stuck with the Eagles for more than a half but the home side was able to break the game open with a run of four goals, before putting their foot down in the final quarter to cruise to a 52-point win. Daniel Kerr led the way for West Coast with 25 possessions and 9 clearances, and young forward Andrew McDougall kicked four goals.
