From the papers[]

The Age[]

"With the first attack of the game, the Eagles' Fraser Gehrig marked strongly, holding the ball aloft to the crowd. He then missed the simple shot.

Phil Matera made no mistake a few minutes later, but within a seven-minute period, first Jose Romero, then Paul Hudson (twice) and Simon Garlick, calmly notched the Dogs' first four goals.

It was then that West Coast full-forward Scott Cummings bobbed up with the first two of his six goals, the first from a strong goal-square mark, the second after a beautiful pass from Dean Kemp.

Just as the Eagles looked about to be stomped on, they bounced back. It was a pattern that would continue."[1]
