West Coast finally broke through for a win, just holding off fellow cellar-dwellers North Melbourne to record a morale-boosting victory. With both sides coming in on a 16-game losing run, momentum swung wildly during the match, with the home side twice opening up sizeable leads before the Kangaroos, equally desperate to break their streak, stormed back into the match. The Eagles would have thought they had the game won at the final change when they had a 31-point margin, having held the opposition scoreless for the term, but North whittled that away and threatened to steal the points in the dying stages. Jayden Hunt had one of his best games for the club with 25 touches and a goal, while Jamie Cripps kicked two goals to go with 18 diposals and a game-high 11 tackles.
