From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Worsfold had a couple of important advantages over Connolly in their first coaching encounter. He had three ruckmen at his disposal in Michael Gardiner, Cox and Brent Tuckey and that put the Dockers' pair of Justin longmuir and Fewster under pressure.

Gardiner, who started in the ruck and spent periods at centre half-forward, was a key factor in the Eagles' win.

Worsfold also kept the pressure on the opposition by rotating his mosquito fleet through the midfield. While Cousins and Fletcher spent most of the afternoon on the ball, at various stages they had the support of teammates David Wirrpunda, Phil Matera, Daniel Kerr, Michael Braun and Rowan Jones.

The Eagles were well served by their "old heads" - Glen Jakovich, Peter Matera and McIntosh - against a Fremantle side that is still trying to develop."[1]
