From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Drum's men simply did not appear to have the strength to match the Eagles in the clinches and again looked suspect when forced to dispose of the ball under pressure.

The Dockers could not match the class of Dean Kemp, who started the game across half-forward and ensured his side was in control until the final term.

Kemp beat five opponents - Ashley Prescott, Chris Bond, Brad Dodd, Shane Parker and Brad Wira - and his 10 first-quarter possessions enabled the Eagles to take early control.

But the game turned dramatically in the last quarter, teenager Jess Sinclair and centre half-forward Stephen O'Reilly inspiring their side as the Eagles slowed down."[1]
