From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Matera won on his wing all day, dispensing with Scott Edwards, who was moved to the backline, and then getting the better of speedy Shaun McManus.

Glen Jakovich led the backs, who included Mitchell White, Peter McKenna, Fraser Gehrig and a pumped-up John Worsfold, against Brad Rowe, Peter Mann, Winston Abraham, Bandy or White and Quenton Leach.

Jakovich beat Mann all day and McKenna largely contained Abraham.

The second term was the Dockers' best. Their midfielders started getting the ball through the centre but Rowe (scoreless) and Mann (one goal) wilted before the relentless Eagles' backs."[1]
