From the papers[]
The Age[]
"The Bombers more than doubled their first-half score by booting eight goals to the Eagles' two in the third term to race to a commanding 32-point three-quarter-time lead.
West Coast held a six-point lead at half-time despite having lost three of its best players to injury.
Peter Matera and Guy McKenna were rendered useless in the first half, while Ben Cousins was forced off in the second quarter with a corked leg after a crude block from Joe Misiti.
Matera tore his hamstring and will not play again before the finals, while McKenna received a corked hip after a crude tackle by Wallis. McKenna showed courage to resume after half-time, but the Eagles were rocked by the losses of Matera and Cousins and McKenna was severely restricted."[1]
