From the papers[]
The Sunday Age[]
"Three of Gehrig's goals came in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the second term, which the Hawks had started with a one-point lead after West Coast kicked the first two goals of the game.
Then Gehrig went on his rampage. Within 50 seconds, he had his first from a snap when Hawthorn turned the ball over after winning the centre bounce. A minute later, Peter Sumich danced around Chris Langford and popped the ball over to Gehrig, who booted his second with his right foot.
Judge was prompted to drag third-gamer Jonathan Hay and switch Angelo Lekkas on to Gehrig, but within two minutes, the West Coast forward had marked in front of Lekkas 30 metres out for another. When Sumich goaled five minutes later, West Coast led by 23 points, and the Hawks were unable to get any closer than two goals thereafter."[1]
