From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Sharrod Wellingham's class was evident with two goals in the second term, showing how sorely he's been missed all year. Andrew Gaff relished not being tagged and had the ball on a string, while Matt Priddis ran amok around the stoppages.

But with the team depleted in the midfield, the Eagles could ill-afford to lose Chris Masten to an ankle injury approaching time-on of the second quarter.

One of the team's hardest workers, the Eagles immediately lost a crucial outside runner.

Mitch Wallis had done a good job on Masten and immediately moved onto Priddis, shutting him down.[1]

The Age[]

"Its start wasn't perfect. West Coast was missing a few crucial players, but still had lots to play for: a finals spot that has seemed just out of reach, pretty much all season. And the Eagles scored early and easily.

A couple of kicks flew over the top of the Bulldogs' defence, Jack Darling out-bodied Michael Talia for another and Josh Hill kicked brilliantly from the boundary line for one more.

At first this didn't seem to bode well for the Bulldogs, who were down by seven points at quarter-time. Had it wasted all that initiative? Its first three goals had required a bit of work, and another couple of chances had been mucked up.

To their credit, though, they kept doing what they had been doing. Slowly, West Coast found goals a little harder to kick. Simultaneously, the Dogs kicked them more easily."[2]

Herald-Sun[]

"But while the 22-point victory will be rightly lapped up by Bullies' fans and players alike, it's the little things that the younger brigade brings to the table that will delight their coach.

Statistically, the Dogs could - maybe even should - have won by more after having 60 more disposals than the Eagles.

But their chief problem for much of the season was again evident, with a huge handling rate - particularly up forward - required to kick a winning score."[3]
