2 J.McMahon (WBD>
1 B.Johnson (WBD)
The Bulldogs continued West Coast's poor run outside of WA with a comfortable win at a poorly-attended Princes Park. The match was a fairly even shootout until halftime, but the home side pulled away with a nine-goal to three second half to keep themselves in touch with the top eight. Ben Cousins had 24 possessions and 9 clearances and Phil Matera kicked five goals but the Eagles' defence was terrorised by small forwards Nathan Brown and Brad Johnson, who kicked 12 goals between them.

From the papers[]
The Age[]
"Five second-term Bulldog goals in seven minutes provided the first evidence of where the game was headed and if Brown's five first half goals didn't vouch for the triumph of small over tall then Johnson's five by three-quarter time did.
Brown finished with a career-best-equalling seven goals. With Johnson's five and extras from Rohan Smith, West, Hahn, Daniel Giansiracusa, Jordon McMahon, Sam Power and Gilbee, 21 of the Dogs' 22 goals were kicked by players 187 centimetres or less.
At the other end of the ground, Phil Matera was proving the theory himself. He seized on opportunities like a West End spiv and finished with five goals but, with only a trickle of supply in the second half, the Eagles were otherwise largely impotent on the ground and in the air."[1]
