From the papers[]
The Age[]
"The Eagles expected a tough match from the Swans but looked set to drub the home team early in the match.
The inaccurate Sydney forwards let their team down as the visitors grabbed a 20-point lead at quarter-time. But the Swans quickly rallied to get within two points, and trailed by only eight at half-time.
For a team playing uninspiring football, the Eagles held on grimly. They had a chance to bury Sydney midway through the third term when they established a lead of 26 points, but the Swans, putting in one of their usual second-half comebacks, kept chipping away until one point separated the sides at the final change.
Early goals in the final quarter sealed the victory for the Eagles, with much of the groundwork being laid by the side's two best running players, Chris Lewis and Chris Mainwaring."[1]
