From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"After Daniel Kerr dominated the first term, Judd joined him to cut loose at the stoppages in the second and with Cousins and Braun proving irresistible link men, the Eagles broke the back of the Bulldogs.

Three goals in as many minutes gave them a 37-point lead. They had dominated the ruck hit-outs 15-6 at that stage and 7-2 out of the centre.

By half-time, West Coast had put the ball into their forward 50 zone 34-23 and their pressure from contest to contest was simply astounding.

Bulldogs were very hard to find and it was tough to see how they were going to save themselves, and their ultra-important percentage, from annihilation."[1]

The Age[]

"Five goals to one in the second half of the second term boosted the Eagles to a matchwinning 44-point lead at half-time. Until then, the Bulldogs had stayed in the contest, but they paid a high price for turnovers coming out of defence.

Lynch got the first two goals of the term, including a quick, round-the-body effort from 45 metres out that never looked like missing.

Slack West Coast marking - a rare defensive error - then let Nathan Eagleton scoot round the back of Luke Darcy, take a handball and then kick accurately from outside the 50 to get the Bulldogs' third goal.

From then on, the Eagles found another gear. Staker added two goals, giving him three for the half, Judd got one on the run from 50, and Mark LeCras and Priddis one apiece as West Coast took over. The Bulldogs' lone reply came from Tiller from a free kick against Daniel Chick for holding."[2]
