Despite some accuracy problems, West Coast extended their lead at every change to record an easy 37 point win. Skipper John Worsfold kicked three goals from 27 possessions and Peter Matera ran amok for 31 touches.

From the papers[]
The Age[]
- Adelaide's normally potent forward structure was appalling yesterday. It was saved from total embarrassment by Tony Modra's four goals, leaving him just two short of his 100 for the season. Even he was shaded on the day by Ashley McIntosh.
Eagles half-back Guy McKenna, wearing gloves for the first time, was outstanding against opponents Andrew Jarman and Chris McDermott. Fellow defenders Glenn Jakovich, Mitchell White, Michael Brennan and Hart - playing for the first time this season - were clear winners, though Jakovich's rival after quarter-time, Nigel Smart, worked hard with no support.
The poor form of Adelaide's forwards could be partly blamed on its key running players, who were thrashed early. Tony McGuinness battled well all day and Greg Anderson came into the play after half-time, but that was it."[1]
Canberra Times[]
"Worsfold, known as a tough and rugged defender, played in attack in the Eagles' latest attempt to find a goal-kicker who can complement full-forward Peter Sumich.
The 24-year-old booted three important goals in the second half and his vigour added an element to the Eagles' game that had been missing recently.
Premiership half-forwards Karl Langdon and Brett Heady were again sidelined with injuries and Eagles coach Mick Malthouse said Worsfold compensated for their absence in the 15.17 (107) to 10.10 (70) win. Worsfold added aggression to the West Coast attacking zone and on a dozen occasions he delivered bone-crunching bumps to Crows players."[2]
